Frankfurter (Felix) is born in Vienna, Austria.

November 15, 1882

With his family, Felix Frankfurter emigrates to New York City in 1894, graduates from City College and Harvard Law School. He works as an assistant U.S. attorney in New York and in Washington, then returns to Boston in 1919 to teach at Harvard Law School. One of the founders of the Civil Liberties Union in 1920, Frankfurter is strongly critical of the conduct of the Sacco and Vanzetti case. He is appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1939.* Frankfurter dies in Washington on February 22, 1965.
